I didnt post last week as two days of not eating anything was just cheating. Down to 14 exactly but I have to watch out; Tuesday night's burger, chips, chocolate pudding, vanilla ice cream and red wine was probably not the best idea :) Never mind the running and exercise is still going well.
did you know there were 788 calories in a Pizza Express amercian hot pizza?? As a result down to 14, 1 this week slightly off target. More runnng and less pizza required...
Still going OK, weight is now around 14, 4 so that's 6 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks, not so bad. I'll keep posting this as I know it will get harder from here.
The food diary is still going OK. I think I must be one of the few blokes using this site as they emailed me this week to ask if I thought they should set up a special one just for men. I said yes.
The good bits:
- still having some energy left at the end of the day without all those sugar based highs and lows
- feeling totally smug as you run over London bridge in the morning with all the city-bound commuters walking miserably past you in the other direction. The view is also much better than from the bus
- a general feeling of positivity about the whole thing
The not so good bits:
- having to leave it at 'just the one pint' at the weekend
- watching the calorie count rocket when you go out to eat. My mate Simon's homemade bread and butter pudding for example.
- dragging yourself out of bed to go running when its cold and wet outside
More next week...
I'll be joining countless people with a start to the year health kick for 2007. I'm really hoping this will last for more than a few weeks and is a long term change. Basically I need to loose some weight, eat consistently well (and not just in spurts) and get some more exercise which I have let slip the past couple of years.
My inspiration is two things:
1) Not wanting to be one of those fat dads that can't play football in the park in a few years time with the little fella
2) My own Dad's heart attack at the end of last year at the age of 61 (a situation now thankfully much better after surgery) which was a bit of a wakeup call for me to sort things out for the long term. Not drastically, just a bit.
I currently weigh in at 14 stone 10 and my target weight is 13 stones for now which will be 13% less of me apparently by the target date of the end of March. I'm using this site to keep a food and exercise diary and count my calories for a few months to get me going in the right direction. It doesnt allow me to publish the food diary publically (which is probably just as well) but I did OK yesterday consuming 1828 calories for the first day of my new healthy me.
Lets see how long this lasts, from past experience I will slip up in a couple of weeks so I'm using this blog to help my motivation with the prospect of very public embarrassment if it goes wrong.
I'll post something on this once a week and let you know how things progress. Here goes....
