I will dedicate my song Lucky man by the Verve to my good friend Simon who announced his engagement recently to Nicole. Anyone that knows Nicole will also know that he's a lucky man.

I really like Bill Granger's books and have the complete set at home, though this is probably his best. I guess he is Aussie's answer to Jamie Oliver. The food is light and modern home cooking that is really easy and tastes excellent. The recipes are easy to follow and the photos are great too. Bill's TV programs on Saturday morning kitchen remind me of life in Sydney when I lived and worked there for an all too brief year. Occasionally on a winter morning from a cold London I watch Bill cook up something fantastic in his kitchen with the beach in sight and sunlight streaming into the windows and daydream of being back there.
I think the food in Sydney was probably the best I've ever encountered, it is a city with unbelievably high quality raw ingredients and a population that really understand food (seriously).
